Ghana President John Mahama has reminded FIFA and the Egyptian authorities they will be held responsible if anything untoward happens to the Ghanaian delegation before, during and
after the second-leg World Cup playoff in Cairo.
The Black Stars are being made to face the Pharaohs in the return encounter of the playoff tie in Cairo despite several protests by the Ghana FA.
Serious security concerns remain rife in the Egyptian capital following political and civil unrest since the overthrow of President Mohammed Morsi in July.
But FIFA deems Cairo safe enough to host the game after it was furnished with a detailed security blueprint for the match by the Egyptian authorities.

Ghana President John Mahama who still harbour some fears over the safety of the entire Ghanaian delegation has restated government’s position if any harm befalls any member of the Black Stars, officials, supporters and the media after being briefed on the security situation in the Egyptian capital on Thursday.
“Ghanaians have been concerned about the safety of the team and I am happy with the consultations you’ve done, there are all kinds of reassurances that the team will be safe,” he said.
“We expressed concern and we requested the match be moved to a different venue but FIFA in its own wisdom believes that the match can be played in Cairo in safety.
“So we are taking FIFA at their word but certainly we will hold FIFA and the Egyptian authorities responsible if anything happens to any if our players or any of our supporters.”
The Black Stars carry a healthy 6-1 advantage going into the return encounter at the Air Defence Stadium on November 19 in Cairo.
