Nigerian scams, widely known throughout the world. Though they are often poorly disguised, some gullible people still fall for them, and become victims of greedy and sly fraudsters.

In the U.S, a new government's initiative may put an end to those practices. The body responsible for consumer protection, the Federal Trade Commission, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with two Nigerian agencies to increase cooperation against that type of scam.

"Cross-border scammers use fraudulent emails and other scams to bilk consumers all over the world, while undermining confidence in legitimate businesses," FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez said in a statement announcing the partnership.

The memorandum of understanding is the first to include a foreign criminal enforcement authority, the FTC said.

Apple has emerged as the most valuable brand in the world, passing Coca-Cola which held the top position for 13 years, according to a report released by brand consultancy Interbrand.

The maker of high-profile products like the iPad and iPhone, which was ranked second last year, saw its brand value grow 28 percent this year to $98.3 billion. Other tech companies that figured in the top five rankings for 2013 were Google at number two and IBM and Microsoft at fourth and fifth place, respectively. Google was number four in 2012, while IBM was third and Microsoft held the fifth position last year.

It could also help women in their 40s whose egg supply is dwindling

Researchers found women who go through early menopause have small, immature eggs remaining in their ovaries which need 'reawakening'

They are kept in an immature state by two biological 'brakes'

One can be overcome with drug treatment, the other by removing an ovary and cutting it into strips before returning part of it to the body

The treatment can cause eggs to mature so they can be used in IVF allowing a woman to have children who are biologically hers

Thousands of women who have gone through the agony of early menopause could be offered new hope by a pioneering fertility treatment.

The technique, which reawakens ‘sleeping eggs’, has allowed a woman who went through the menopause at the age of 25 to give birth to a healthy baby boy.

The U.S. and Japanese researchers believe many more women could benefit – including those in their early 40s whose supply of eggs is dwindling fast.

According to DailyMail.Co.Uk, When Karen Gilbert learned she was pregnant with extremely rare identical triplets, she was stunned and delighted.

But, she said, doctors took a different view of her one-in-200million pregnancy and twice gave her an option to terminate it. They feared the three foetuses could take each other’s fluid and space and might not survive.

Later in the pregnancy she was told she could choose to keep only one or two of them. But Mrs Gilbert and her husband Ian were determined to have their three little girls. Now Ffion, Madison and Paige – who were born two months early on August 2 – have come home from hospital.

Mrs Gilbert, 32, said: ‘The pregnancy has taken its toll but now I’m taking my time to recover and get to know my three beautiful girls.

‘The doctors thought it could be up to three months before we could bring them home so we feel privileged to have them here with us.’

Confirmed: Ghana to Experience Another Eclipse in November

According to the Ghana Association of Science and Technology (GAST), Ghana will on November 13, this year, experience another solar eclipse.

Confirming it on Peace FM, Mr Frimpong Manso, General Secretary of GAST explained that, unlikewhat happened in 2006, the upcoming eclipse would be a “hybrid” (partial brightness and partial darkness).

“The northern sector was going to experience the eclipse at 12:45 GMT while the southern sector’s own was going to occur at 14:40 GMT.This time around, the eclipse is going to last longer”

He revealed that, GAST was arranging with its parnters in the US to distribute googles to schoolchildren to safely view the rare occurrence.

(CNN) – Popes John XXIII and John Paul II will be declared saints in April, the Vatican said Monday. The announcement came after Pope Francis met with cardinals to discuss the planned canonizations of two of his predecessors. The ceremony will take place on April 27. It will be the first time two popes will be canonized at the same time. To be named a saint involves a series of steps, but the qualifications are straightforward, according to the veteran Vatican analyst John Allen.

“You put a holy life and two miracles together, according to the Catholic system, you’ve got a saint,” he said.

A book titled “Baba’s Story: Nigeria Is 50″ by a Ghanaian author, Abyna-Ansaa Adjei on ex-Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo(aka Baba), is fast-selling at the moment. A cargo of 20billion euros in cash (£16.75billion) has lain unclaimed at a Moscow airport for six years amid allegations it could be the secret fortune of Saddam Hussein. 

The stash, now under high security in a cargo depot, is held on 200 wooden pallets each worth 100 million euros, enough to keep the entire NHS going for almost two months.

The existence of the tapes was revealed by US magazine Globe, which quoted a source, who is said to be one of Diana’s “closest friends”. The tape suggested Diana had a chilling premonition about her death because of worries that she had made some dangerous enemies.

Well, that’s exactly what one pilot boyfriend did — and she still said yes.

In February, pilot Ryan Thompson took his girlfriend, Carlie Kennedy, on a romantic sightseeing flight over Chicago. In the middle of the flight, Thompson told his girlfriend that there was a problem with the plane’s controls and ordered her to read off the “emergency checklist,” which contained instructions for a “ring engagement procedure,” the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

As Kennedy believed she might be plummeting to her death, she had no idea that she was being filmed on a hidden camera, the video of which would later be posted on YouTube with the title “In Descent Proposal.”

Originally from Denver both brother and sister grew up to enlist and on reuniting discovered they were both working for the Navy in California.
