No judgement? During a recent interview with BBC Newsnight's Zoe Conway, Jennifer Lawrence was asked to share her thoughts on fellow stars like 20-year-old singer Miley Cyrus, and whether she worries about the sexualization of young women in the industry.
But that doesn't mean the Oscar-winning actress disagrees with her peers' choices.
"Everybody's got their own path and they've got their own way of finding themselves," she explained. "For some people, that's how they feel best, that's how they feel sexy and that's how they want to perform . . . to each their own."
Lawrence, however, said she does think carefully about which film roles will set the best example for her young fans. "I do right now, while I'm doing these movies and I'm still Katniss," the Silver Linings Playbook star explained. "And if I'm doing a movie that is in the same rating as them . . . As long as I am Katniss, I do make conscious decisions that way."
The Hunger Games star said she's proud that her character in the film, Katniss Everdeen, is a positive role model for young girls. She purposefully wanted Katniss to not be too thin in the franchise.
"We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing," she explained. "Girls see enough of this body that we'll never be able to obtain . . . It's an amazing opportunity to rid ourselves of that in this industry. And also, I think, it's better to look strong and healthy. I feel like somebody like Kate Moss running at you with a bow and arrow wouldn't really be scary."
