Avenged were miffed, but reacted with level heads. "Some people might see it as being as an underhanded joke," frontman M Shadows said in a radio interview. "It’s no skin off our backs."
LORDE VS. SELENA GOMEZ
A highlight of Selena Gomez’s "Stars Dance" tour was her cover of Lorde's hit "Royals." But when Lorde took a potshot at Gomez's racy single "Come and Get It," claiming it was sexist, Selena got mad, telling Flaunt magazine, "That’s not feminism. [Lorde is] not supporting other women." Gomez dropped "Royals" from her set and replaced it with Katy Perry’s "Roar."

BEASTIE BOYS VS. GOLDIEBLOX
In his will, Beastie Boy Adam Yauch asked that the group's songs never be used in advertisements. So when toy company GoldieBlox made a clever commercial that featured new lyrics to the melody of "Girls," the Boys got miffed and called out the GoldieBlox team. The PC toy manufacturer sued for "fair use," and the Beasties sent out their legal team. Rather than becoming ensnared in a lawsuit, GoldieBlox backed off and pulled the video.

Drake loves his PJs.

KANYE WEST VS. JIMMY KIMMEL
When Jimmy Kimmel spoofed a boastful interview Kanye West did with the BBC by having a bratty child play the rapper, West demanded a public apology. Kimmel refused, and West let fly with a series of vicious tweets including, "Jimmy Kimmel put yourself in my shoes… Oh no, that means you would have gotten too much p---y in your life." Meow.

LADY GAGA VS. PEREZ HILTON
There was a time when Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton seemed like bosom buddies. Then in an August interview with Howard Stern, Gaga called Hilton a "fake friend," and it was on. Hilton tweeted that his former pal was a "real-life vampire" and publicly blamed her hostility on alcohol and drug abuse. Gaga in turn called him a stalker.

SINEAD O’CONNOR VS. MILEY CYRUS
When Cyrus cited Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" video as inspiration for "Wrecking Ball," the Irish singer warned Cyrus not to use sex as a selling point. Offended, Cyrus compared O'Connor to loose cannon Amanda Bynes. O'Connor replied, "Taking me on is even more f--kin' stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism."

AZAELIA BANKS VS. LILY ALLEN
English performer Lily Allen credited a Twitter battle with American rapper and singer Azealia Banks for inspiring her to write new music. "[Banks] was being particularly horrible to me… and it was just brilliant because it ignited this juvenile flame in my belly," Allen told the BBC. The rivalry started when Banks dissed Allen's husband. She retaliated by labeling Banks a one-hit wonder. Banks then retorted that Allen has "ugly children and a coke habit."

In an interview with Hot 97, Carey said being on a panel with Minaj was like "going to work every day in hell with Satan."

FRANK OCEAN VS. CHRIS BROWN
Chris Brown’s 2012 bottle battle against Drake's peeps was still fresh on everyone's mind in January, 2013 when Brown allegedly engaged in fisticuffs with Frank Ocean over a parking space. Ocean told police Brown threatened to shoot him and later fired back at Brown on the track "Sunday." Brown defended himself in an interview with the Guardian. "People know if they push a button, it’ll make more news than their music. Attaching themselves to me, good or bad, will benefit them."
