Barcelona are reportedly set to hand Lionel Messi an improved contract following weeks of controversy involving Barcelona vice president Javier Faus.
Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell recently stated in reference to Messi, that the best player in the world should be paid like the best player in the world, which didn’t sit well with Faus, who criticised the club’s six different contract renewals since 2005.
Faus was quoted as saying he doesn't understand why Barcelona have offer Messi improved terms every six months.
However, according to Spanish sports daily, AS, Barcelona and Messi have come to terms on a seventh contract revision, renewing the terms agreed in his sixth, five-year contract with a €250 million buyout clause.
Now all that remains is for Messi to return to Barcelona and get the final approval from president Sandro Rosell before making it official.
