If you tend to misplace your belongings — your wallet, smartphone, laptop, or even your kid — Linquet is your new best friend.
The cloud-based app is focused on preventing the loss in the first place, rather than trying to find your things once they're already missing, Linquet founder Pooya Kazerouni explained to Mashable.
After you download Linquet on your Android or iPhone, you can stick the small white tags (not much bigger than a quarter) to your computer or hook them onto a keychain. Sync the tags with your phone via Bluetooth, and you'll be able to keep tabs on any item you like. Those tags have embedded alarms that go off when you stray too far from them, and you can customize the volume and ringtone for each. An alarm will also sound on your phone, helping you locate your wallet or bag through the cloud.
Users can specify distance ranges, so that an alarm won't sound if, say, you're planning to leave your phone at home. If you want to make sure your wallet is always within a few feet of you, though, you can adjust the alarms to ensure that. It can also be helpful for pets — say, if you want to make sure your dog stays within the confines of your property but don't want an alarm to sound whenever he runs into the backyard.
Linquet can also notify a select group of "trusted friends" each time an item is lost.
"Instead of broadcasting your item location to the world, it relays the people you know and trust to your account," Kazerouni said. "If you're not able to retrieve your valuables, those trusted friends and only those trusted friends will be able to retrieve your item."
The tags will begin shipping in December, according to Linquet's website, and the starting price is $2.99 per month for one. Four Linquet tags will cost you $9.99 per month, and 10 of them go for $19.99.
