Someone is now the proud owner of Kim’s pretty pricey hand-me-downs now that her 20.5 carat sparkler, put up for auction by her former hubby, has sold!
Someone out there can say that they have a piece of Kim — well an old piece that is.Kim Kardashian‘s engagement ring from ex-husband and NBA player Kris Humphriesis no longer up for sale. The precious jewel was sold at a Christie’s auction in NYC on Oct. 15, where it sold for $620,000 after bidding opened at $200,000. While we can’t get over the whopping price tag, it does fall short when compared to the estimated $2,000,000 value.
Kim Kardashian’s Engagement Ring:
Kris, 28, decided to put the ring up for auction. It was simply listed as an “Impressive Diamond Ring” when it went to auction. The Lorraine Schwartz sparkler was given to Kim by the NBA player, when he proposed back in 2011. The whole ring totals at a whopping 20.5 carats, and is made up of a 16.21-carat rectangular-cut center diamond with I color, VS1 clarity, and two 1.80-carat side diamonds. Want to know who purchased this serious piece of bling? Well we don’t even know ourselves! Bidding started at $200K and came to a close today. An unknown online buyer won the auction at $620K but will be have to cough up a grand total of $749K with commission and fees. Wow!
Although the auction price for the ring seems high, the jewel was originally valued at $2 million back in 2011. The auction catalog noted that a portion of the proceeds will be given to charity. “Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it off,” sources told Us Weekly. “Everyone has asked Kim what she did with the ring when she silently gave the ring back over a year ago. And Kris waited until the divorce was final to sell it.”
It looks like the world’s shortest marriage will no longer be discussed. Do you think Kris has hard feelings? Would you purchase Kim’s ring for over a half a million dollars? Do you think this is an effort for Kris to heal from their divorce? Check it out and drop a comment below.
