The Tupac documentary hasn't hit any snags and is continuing forward with a spring 2014 shooting date that has been called "definite." Back in September, I brought you the news that production company Morgan Creek had finally pulled the film out of development hell. Now, the folks behind the film are holding receptions and solidifying release dates.
The two companies held a reception for friends and supporters of the late, great hip hop artist at the Zanzibar in Santa Monica last Thursday where producer Randall Emmett confirmed the 2014 shoot is a go.
The film was originally scheduled to start shooting all the way back in 2011, but was held up by the late rapper's mother who claimed that she never optioned the rights to her son's music and story. The case was eventually settled out-of-court and Afeni Shakur is listed as an executive producer.
No directors or actors have been attached to the film.
