And we all thought he did! TLC’s Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas has finally opened up about the inspiration for his 2004 hit album Confessions.
The album was released about the time Usher and Chilli broke up. So naturally we assumed the album was about their broken two-year relationship. But Chilli says no, it’s not.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Chilli said:
“We were together when he recorded that album. All of those songs on Confessions, that was about Jermaine Dupri‘s situation. Usher was just singing it. But people kind of bought into it, it was just the timing of our breakup when the album came out.So people assumed that album was about us, but it was not. And Usher and I weren’t oil and water. We broke up because I guess it was that time or whatever. He was that real love for me.”
Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas who formed the 90s mega girl group TLC, together with Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, admitted that she will “always love” Usher.
