Nigeria's oldest citizen in the United Kingdom Pa Gabriel Lemoshe passed away on Friday January 31st less than two months short of his 100th birthday which was to be marked with a grand party by Nigerians in diaspora.
According to report, he took ill and was taken to the hospital where he unfortunately passed away days later.
Pa Lemoshe, a native of Abeokuta has been a resident of UK since 1941.
He was to clock 100-years on March 15 and they were already planning a big celebration in his honour.
Traditionally, the Queen of England writes a personal congratulatory letter to anyone who clocks 100 in the UK and Pa Lemoshe was on course to become the first Nigerian to receive such a letter but he was snatched away by death.
Organisers of his birthday now plan to hold a celebration of his life on march 15 instead of his birthday and family members will be coming from Nigeria to grace the occasion.
May his soul Rest in Peace!
