NeNe Leakes is used to a life of drama, but she never saw this coming. The Real Housewives of Atlanta diva had a near-fatal health scare. Fans first got a hint of trouble after she wrote on her website Monday, November 18: "blessed to be alive." That cryptic message was accompanied by a photo of her in a hospital gown with IVs sticking out of her arms. What doctors discovered could have killed her if not caught in time.
Good thing she did. After a slew of tests, they found a blood clot in her lungs, which could have ultimately killed her. It's especially scary considering that most people don't even recognize those symptoms and the deadly condition then goes unchecked for too long. Doctors said this happened to her because of all the constant traveling around the country.
It's a good thing NeNe is so self-aware. So many of us don't want to bother going to the doctor for what we may think are minor symptoms. It's just far too inconvenient. Sadly, that attitude costs too many people their lives. For now, the reality star is resting comfortably at home with her husband Gregg Leakes tending to her.
I am sure her doctors want her to take it easy and avoid stress -- however, we know how impossible that will be with the crew she runs in. We are only three weeks into the new season and it promises to be their craziest yet. NeNe's still feuding with costar Kenya Moore and we don't envision a peaceful resolution to this anytime soon. Maybe Gregg can post a "No Housewives Allowed" sign on their front door for a little while.
