This information is being kept hush-hush, but insider sources in Jumia have revealed that Tunde Kehinde, Jumia’s co-founder and Managing Director has resigned. Kehinde co-founded Jumia; an online retail shop with his business partner, Ghanaian Raphael Afaedor last year. The pair are both Harvard Business School graduates.
Since then, Jumia, has grown to servicing over 500,000 customers monthly in Nigeria alone; with outlets expanding across Africa to Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, Ivory Coast, and South Africa. Jumia has gone ahead to launch a 12,000 sqft warehouse, launch pick-up points across Nigeria and has raised money from firms such J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Millicon among others.
Jumia’s management isn’t talking to press yet, but I wonder what would make Kehinde resign just when business is soaring for Jumia.
