This is such a horrible tragedy -- and it might not even be over!
The Philippines has been hit hard by Typhoon Haiyan which tore through areas like Samar. It then continued on to hit much of central Philippines.
Reports are out that at least four people have died and hundreds of thousands have had to flee from their homes due to the danger and destruction that took place early on Friday. Power is out in many areas and flights have been canceled as the storm raged through.
Typhoon Haiyan reportedly passed through the Philippines at 25 mph with wind gusts blowing as high as 235 mph!
And while the power and speed of the storm sounds horrible, there was the silver lining in that this means it passed through the area quickly, which decreased the impact of rain and landslides, which often leads to deaths.
More than 700,000 people had been evacuated before the storm hit, but there were still people left in the typhoon's line of destruction. And the physical damage is severe asGwendolyn Pang, the Secretary General of the Philippine National Red Cross, said:
We hope everyone manages to find a safe place to take shelter until this storm dies down.
Our thoughts are with everyone suffering right now.

"About 90% of the infrastructure and establishments were heavily damaged."The damage might not yet be over as the storm is reportedly now in the South China Sea for a couple days and will hitland nearby Hue, Vietnam, with winds estimated at about 120 mph.
