The third season of “Scandal” will be shortened by four episodes, ABC has announced.
While the network didn’t give a specific reason for airing just 18 episodes, rather than the normal 22, it’s believed the truncated season is to accommodate the show’s star Kerry Washington, who is reportedly pregnant.
Production on the show is set to the end early for Washington, who is by widespread accounts expecting her first child with her football player husband Nnamdi Asomugha.
Following next week’s episode, “Scandal” will be on hiatus until late February when it will resume and begin airing its last few shows of the season.
