Chris Brown Turns Down Plea Deal In Assault Case

Chris Brown

On Wednesday, Chris Brown rejected a simple assault plea deal relating to an incident that occured in Washington, D.C., in October.
Brown and his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy allegedly got into a fight with another man outside the W Hotel on Oct. 27. They were initially charged with felony assault, but later the charges were reduced to misdemeanors.
Prosecutors had offered the singer a deal that would lessen his misdemeanor assault charge if he plead guilty to simple assault, according to TMZ.com.

Brown's attorney Marg Geragos advised his client not to accept the plea deal because he believes the singer is innocent. Geragos is also waiting to view surveillance footage of the incident.
Brown has been on probation since 2009 relating to an assault charge against then-girlfriend Rihanna. He was not sent to jail following his October arrest because the Los Angeles judge on the case was apparently satisfied with Brown's progress in court-ordered anger management rehab.
Brown's D.C. case is heading to trial, and the singer will reportedly be back in court on Feb. 20 to set a tentative date for it.
Meanwhile, over New Year's Brown celebrated the holiday in rehab with off/again, on/again girlfriend Karrueche Tran.
She posted a photo of the two of them on Twitter wearing party hats with the caption: "Getting chrae on New Years Day haha #Corny #Ha #HappyNewYears."
