A soldier is going through a bittersweet week after his pregnant wife gave birth to their new baby girl…but after she was stabbed in the kitchen of their home. According to ABC News, Rachel Poole was on FaceTime with her husband Justin Poole when she was approached by 19-year-old Corey Moss, who broke into her home.
The site reports that Rachel had to be rushed to the hospital, and the only way the doctors could treat her wounds would be if she had a c-section. Fortunately, her baby girl came out healthy, but Rachel is currently dealing with a stab wound on her eye, as well as a collapsed lung.
The site reports:
Poole was taken to the hospital on Wednesday evening after she was “brutally attacked” by a 19-year-old who broke into her home and stabbed her repeatedly with a knife, according to an El Paso Police Department news release.
Corey Bernard Moss, of Fort Bliss, Texas, was charged with criminal attempted capital murder after he attacked Poole, who was nine months pregnant, in her kitchen while she was on FaceTime with her husband, El Paso Police Department spokesman Det. Mike Baranyay told ABCNews.com.
Moss, who had gone to confront Poole about money he owed her, reportedly entered the woman’s home through a rear door and waited for her to return, according to an arrest affidavit.
It continues:
Moss then fled the home and reportedly called someone to pick him up and drive him to the Fort Bliss military base, according to the affidavit.
Moss is a soldier in training on Fort Bliss military base, police said.
Once Moss returned, his coworkers, along with responding police officers, took him into custody at a command group center on the base, the affidavit said. The knife Moss used to stab Poole was found in the car he was driven home in, according to the affidavit.
It was not clear how Justin Poole knew Moss’ coworkers, Baranyay said.
Moss was turned over to El Paso Police detectives and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he was being held on $150,000 bond, a jail spokesman told ABCNews.com.
There is a picture that Rachel’s family has released to the web of her in the hospital, which you can see here.
We pray for Rachel Poole during this tragic time, and hope she can recover for her baby girl!
