Forget the teenage pretender the REAL Carrie Bradshaw has embraced the little blue bird of social networking.
When Sarah Jessica Parker joined Twitter back in 2011, our excitement was almost too much to bear. Then when she didn't tweet from her verified account @SJP, we died a little inside. The little was quickly followed by a lot and we probably weren't alone.
Then just as we were about to turn into husks of our former selves, Carrie Bradshaw herself finally embraced the little blue bird.
You could've knocked us down with a pair of Manolos. Much like this (above)
Yes, FINALLY, Sarah Jessica Parker - she of Sex and the City, Hocus Pocus and our life fantasies for the past 15 years - has posted her very first tweet.
Now, it's not exactly a Carrie Bradshaw classic - there are no witty puns about socks, she's not drunk at Vogue and there's not even a carefully-posed question relevant to our personal problems.
In fact it's just a plug for her new TV show.
"Very 1st tweet," she begins. "Proud to share my new series city.ballet. on AOL On. @NYCballet dancers = extraordinary!"
Take a look for yourself.
We can't lie and say we were surprised that she didn't tweet for such a long time, after all she's not been so clear on her feelings about the whole social networking thing.
In 2010 the actress said: "Is there a point? I really mean this because I've never been on Twitter and I don't understand it — I'm not saying that in a negative way, I really don't understand it.
"Is there any point at which you say goodnight? Do you actually say, 'I'm going to bed now?'"
Maybe she was just trying to avoid the deluge of tweets asking her about the new teenage version of Carrie Bradshaw?
In any case, at this rate we reckon she should next tweet in 2015 so we'll be standing by on high alert waiting for that moment.
It's a good job there are six seasons, two movies, countless books and a prequel to keep us going.
