Uh uh. Sorry Ashanti but we cannot rock wit u if u are going to be tweeting stuff like this on the reg!
The R&B star is under fire after shooting some shade at aTwitter user after he insulted her music!
It all started when the 33-year-old singer asked her followers who they wanted to win the NFC Championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
Ch-ch-check out what one rude tweeter wrote, and then look at Ashanti’s comeback!
Ashanti has since deleted her tweet but not before the backlash began!
One Twitter follower wrote to her:
"That was rude. Who are you to call someone gay?”Another took her tweet very personal, explaining:
"I am gay. I AM offended Being in the closet is not fun Or hilarious. People struggle with this #GayIsNotAJoke.”
So far, Ashanti has yet to comment on the incident.
But before we all jump to the homophobic conclusion, let’s stop and consider how Ashanti has expressed nothing but support for the LGBT community in the past!
Just last year, she featured an interracial, same-sex couple in her music video for Never Should Have!
She also commented about her decision to include a gay couple in her vid, saying:
"I think it's wonderful. I think you should be able to marry who you love, regardless.”We’re going to go out on a limb and say Ashanti just wasn’t thinking when she used that anti-gay insult this weekend. Clearly she has NOTHING against gay people.
We’re hoping she apologizes for her mistake soon.
