Two children, 1-year-old Norell Harris, and his 2-year-old sister,Zyana Harris, suffered fatal stab wounds after their mom attempted an exorcism at their home in Maryland. Their two older siblings, 5 and 8, were hospitalized with injuries. On Friday, police got a call from neighbors who believed their momZakieya L. Avery, 28, and another woman in the same residence were acting suspiciously. According to CNN:
“Police said they found the four children Friday morning after a neighbor called 911 to report suspicious activity at the home. The neighbor reported seeing a car with a door open and a knife next to it.”
According to police, the defendants believed they were performing an exorcism on the children. On saturday, Avery was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two accounts of attempted first-degree murder, Montgomery County Police also revealed in their statement.
